Tourism is new in Nicaragua, and the government and people of Nicaragua are very welcoming to foreign visitors. The government of Nicaragua has established a special office to promote tourism, the Intur agency of Nicaragua. Nicaragua is also now hiring special tourism police to assist tourists.

When you travel with Explore Nicaragua Tours on a scheduled 2010 group tour, you are also making an automatic donation towards a university scholarship or an elementary classroom. This donation of $25 is included in your tour costs. $25 is the cost for refurbishing a blackboard for an elementary classroom, purchasing dictionaries, contributing to a new copier, buying 2 student desks, or contributing to a public university scholarship at the University of Nicaragua in Leon. You will see your donation at work.

On private tours, you may also visit an elementary school if you wish, and make a donation of your choice to the school.
